Our client is a family owned mixed farming enterprise, based in Mobrup, 50km SW of Kojonup, Western Australia. They run 10,000 -15,000 head of Merino sheep and a 1,500Ha cropping program. An exciting opportunity has come up and they are looking for an Assistant Cropping Manager.
This position is “hands on” and would suit someone who has had a few years’ practical experience in crop production who is keen to upskill to full cropping management in a mixed farming enterprise.

Salary: Negotiable based on experience

About the role:
- Conducting general farming operations including seeding, fertilising, spraying and harvesting of crops
- Monitoring crops for insect & disease pressure; plan and implement fungicide, pesticide and nutrition regimes.
- Operating crop production machinery, including tractors, modern harvesting and spraying machinery, trucks and bulk handling equipment
- Maintaining accurate records of management and production processes
- Testing, treatment and managing the movement and storage of all grain produced on far
- Establish and maintain efficient and effective communication with the management team as well as external consultants, agronomists, and contractors to ensure smooth and productive operations of the farm
- Assist with the maintenance of equipment, buildings, sheds and facilities
- Identify machinery and procedures not running at optimum levels
- Ensure safe and effective handling of equipment and everyday WHS
- Previous crop production experience
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Show initiative to improve practices where there is an opportunity to do so
- Work diligently to help grow the business while being a trustworthy and reliable team member
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to work long or flexible hours during busy cropping periods
- Good communication skills
- Preparedness to assist with sheep work if needed
- Current manual drivers licence
- Chemical Certificate
- Welding skills
- HC or MC truck licence
