Job Description

Family-owned cropping & sheep property, located in Wagin WA, are seeking a Senior Farm Hand/Machinery Operator to assist with all cropping operations as well as stock duties. Good sheep knowledge and experience is required as well as previous experience operating broadacre machinery and good mechanical knowledge. Accommodation will be provided (suitable for families), a work vehicle, free farm meat and a generous starting salary for the right candidate.

  • 3900Ha cereals, canola & lupin & approx. 3000 sheep;
  • Location 16km out of Wagin, WA, 237km to Perth, 224km to Albany;
  • Wagin facilities include: primary & high schools, supermarkets, hospitals and rec centres;
  • Sponsorship opportunities available for the right person.

About the Role:

  • Start date: September 2024;
  • Animal husbandry, feeding & yard work;
  • Broadacre machinery operations;
  • Workshop duties;
  • General farm duties, fencing, maintaining fire breaks etc;
  • Machinery:
    • Tractors New Holland T9, 2024 model. 670hp
    • Seeding Equipment Morris seeding gear 18 meters
    • Harvest Equipment New Holland Cr9.90 12 meters
    • Spraying Miller Nitro 36meter
    • GPS / Auto Steer IntelleVue GPS systems
  • Size of team: Small team of 2.

About you:

  • Must be experienced with operating broadacre machinery;
  • Previous experience working with sheep;
  • Mechanically minded; trade qualification is highly desirable 
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Honest and reliable – knows when to report issues with gear etc;
  • C-Manual driver’s license is essential, MC highly desirable;
  • Must be non-smoker.

What’s on offer:

  • Great hourly rate of $35+ on offer, depending on experience; $37+ if trade qualified
  • Standard working hours: 7am-5pm Monday-Friday, extended hours during peak seasons;
  • Accommodation: ($150 per week, this includes On-farm house including aircon, garage, patio, gardens, suitable for singles, couples and families and all utilities)
  • Work vehicle & running costs provided;
  • Complimentary meat available for employees;
