Job Description

Our client, family-owned mixed property of cropping and sheep, seeks a solid, experienced agricultural technician to join the team which consists of the Owner, Operator and General Farm Hand. Working alongside the Owner in a senior role, this is a great opportunity to move into a leadership role.

About the Role:

  • Discuss and develop latest technology methods of crop processes, to constantly improve on planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing methods
  • Discuss and develop latest technology methods of livestock processes, to constantly improve on production, nutrition, selective breeding and raising of stock
  • Identify harmful pests to crop and livestock, such as insects, parasites and weeds, and assist in devising methods to control
  • Advise of effective use of land in relation to topography, soil characteristics and physical landscape
  • Identify nutrient deficiencies in the soil and devise methods to optimise in relation to mixed crop and livestock farming
  • Analyse produce and ensure standards of quality of crop and livestock are met
  • Arrange supply of fertilisers, chemicals, drugs and vaccines, and advise on their most effective use
  • Plan optimal production processes with management, from start through to sale, slaughtering and harvesting
  • Understanding of safety and how good safety practices save lives, time, and money
  • Management training opportunities
  • Attend Field Days and learn about latest research and technology, to then advise management on best practice

About You:

  • Honest, loyal and willing to work
  • Genuine passion for farming and the agriculture industry
  • Experience in broadacre farming
  • HR licence desirable
  • Problem solving ability with good mechanical knowledge
  • Team player and ability to get along well with others

What’s on Offer:

  • $90,000 to $120,000 base salary (based on experience)
  • Monday to Friday – 7.30am to 5.30pm (extra hours will be required during the busy season)
  • Comfortable 3-bedroom,1 bathroom family home on farm with power and water supplied
  • Work ute provided
