Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for a permanent, full-time General Farm Hand has become available on a mixed cropping & livestock property, located in the Mount Cooper region of the Eyre Peninsula, SA. Previous cropping and broadacre experience will be highly regarded as well as previous experience working with and understanding livestock processes. Accommodation options are available & a work vehicle will be provided for the right candidate as well as an attractive hourly rate, depending on skills and experience.

• 2850ha mixed cropping & sheep livestock property (producing: wheat, barley, canola, lentils, oats & medic pasture / approx.2500 sheep;
• Located just 22km form Port Kenny and 65 kms from Streaky Bay, SA;
• Nearest town and what facilities include: Port Kenny – post office, roadhouse, hotel, sports/golf club, Streaky Bay – post office, hotel, motels, school (R-12), childcare centre, 2 x supermarkets, other accommodation, roadhouses, butcher, bakery, bank, sports facilities (golf, tennis, football, netball, bowls, skate park, boat ramp);

About the Role:

• Start date: October 2024
• Duties: Assist with all duties associated with the production of cereal, grains & pulses and livestock (sheep);
• Operating large broadacre machinery;
• Machinery maintenance and workshop duties;
• Machinery used: Patriot 4450 self propelled sprayer, Morris air-seeder, Case headers, Vennings 28t Chaser, GPS:  Trimble, Operating Western Star Road Trains;
• General farm duties including fencing and yard work;
• Size of team: 4 – family farm operation;

About you:

• Must be experienced with operating large broadacre machinery;
• Mechanically minded with a good aptitude for machinery maintenance;
• Previous cropping experience and understanding;
• Previous stock experience desirable;
• Ability to pre-plan & operate efficiently;
• Basic record keeping skills;
• Non-smokers preferred;
• C-manual driver’s license essential. HC desirable;

• Great hourly rate of $35-40+ on offer, depending on skills & experience;
