Senior Farm Hand/2IC, Dowerin WA

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Farm Hand looking to progress into a 2IC in the coming years. Family-owned property with a 6,000Ha cropping program located near Dowerin, WA (2 hours north-east of Perth). The successful candidate will have a strong passion for broad acre farming, vast machinery experience, ability to oversee casual staff, a good mechanical aptitude and be a self-starter.

About the role: 

• Immediate start;
• Assisting to execute the cropping plan;
• Operating a wide range of broadacre machinery including air seeder, boom spray, header and various tractors;
• Directing casual staff in peak periods;
• Achieving deadlines while still maintaining attention to detail;
• Overseeing farm operations in absence of the owner;
• Carting grain at harvest time;
• Maintenance, general servicing and repairs of equipment and machinery;
• Opportunity to be involved in developing cropping plan with farm manager for the right candidate.

About you:

• Must have a strong passion for broadacre farming;
• Ability to understand and execute cropping plans;
• Ability to forward plan, know how to prioritise tasks;
• Previous experience and confident operating large agricultural machinery;
• Mechanical aptitude will be highly regarded;
• Minimum of HR licence and willing to upgrade to MC licence;
• Non-smoker/vaper preferred.

What’s on offer:

• Salary: $100K+ dependent on experience;
• Hours: Standard: Monday-Friday 8am-5.30pm; Peak: 6-7 days per week, 12+ hours a day;
• Accommodation: Modern 4 bedroom house with ducted air con located in town of Dowerin. Water and gas included and electricity costs are responsibility of the candidate;
• Work vehicle including running costs.
