Award Rates & Contracts for Farm Managers

The People in Agriculture website states the following under Rates for Managers:

Business managers will be award free provided their duties and responsibilities are greater than the highest classification set out in the relevant award. The National Employment Standards apply, but overtime and penalty rates do not apply as these are award entitlements. If managers are going to work more than 38 hours per week, the additional hours must be 'reasonable'.

As you can see from this small example, drawing up a contract is not a simple task and involves much thought and consideration. You can see an example contract drawn up for Permanent Full-Time employment for managers under the Rates for Managers section, which is relevant to farm management jobs in the agricultural sector. It is always a good idea to seek professional advice if you are unsure of your responsibilities as an employer, or if you need assistance drawing up legal documents relating to your business.
