We have experienced operators finishing up their seeding 2017 season in Australia who have shown a keen interest in working in New Zealand. Refer to the list below which is updated regularly to give you an idea of those available and their farming experience/background. SEASONAL CANDIDATES - updated 8th December 2017:
HENRY, 23 years old from UK with a strong passion for agriculture with a dream to do a NZ harvest. 6 harvest seasons experience in the UK starting from the age of 17. During this time has worked on a variety of farms including combine operator on a CASE Axial Flow 7230 for 2 seasons, drilling experience, plenty of tractor work from carting grain to primary cultivations and fertiliser spreading. Holds PA1 and PA2 pesticide application tickets. Proficient with the use of excavators and telehandlers and has a sound knowledge of arable cropping and agronomy. Considers himself very practical with a decent knowledge of machinery maintenance and servicing. Very adaptable and happy to get stuck in wherever required.
CAMERON, 24 years old from Hawkes Bay, NZ. Grew up on sheep and beef farm. Available for the NZ season from late December until March where he will return to WA for the seeding season in April 2018. Flexible on any location within NZ and happy to operate any machinery. Class 4 truck licence. Heavy Fabrication Engineer (level 4). Gained experience in WA for seeding this year with our client and has returned to them for the current harvest. Prior to his WA seeding experience, Cameron had done around 1000 hours in a tractor feeding out, topping, power harrowing, discing, general farm work in dairy farm. Mechanically minded - eg, had racing car and did all the mechanics. Great welding skills - eg, built a tractor trailer last year. Great guy with great references.
ROD, 18 year old from the UK, travelling on his own. Currently working the Australian harvest, driving a Chaser Bin, chasing two headers, and working in the workshop. He grew up on a mixed 650 acre mixed farm, beef and suckler herd, and has been very involved in farming from a young age. Has previously worked for a Contractor in the UK undertaking many tasks including seeding, ploughing, mowing, baling and operating a forage wagon. Available from late December / early January. Would ideally prefer to work with a Contractor and would love a bit of variety.
SCOTT, 22 year old, non-smoker. Farmers son from the UK. Grew up working on the families dairy farm. Cropping, operated a wide range of machinery and carried out jobs such as mowing, hauling, ploughing, spreading, cultivation work. Currently working the Australian harvest driving a header, (Claas Lexion). Also experienced operating Fendt and carrying out the maize seeding. In the UK he worked for a Massey Ferguson dealership for three years where he was a mechanic, did demonstrations as well as selling. Available mid December and happy to work anywhere in NZ. Looking to head back to the UK around June/July 2018.
HARRY, 22, non smoker, Kiwi. Looking for harvest work in NZ and seeking plenty of hours! Happy to do chaser, ground crew and general farm work. From a family dairy farm and has operated CASE tractors. Cultivation, mowing and spreading experience. Will be available until April where he will return to Australia for the seeding season.
ANGUS, 20 years old, Non smoker, Scottish. Currently working here in WA. For the past 6 weeks he and his friend have been working for a harvesting contractor here in WA operating John Deere headers. Back in UK he operated CLAAS and New Holland headers, operated potato harvesters and has lots of round baling also. Also has a Agricultural degree. Great references from previous employer that will happily have him back for harvest next year. Good operator and very willing and able. Will head to New Zealand around Christmas and is looking for a Header Driving position starting ASAP.
WILLIAM,19, non smoker from UK. Experienced in header operator. Has been Operating a JD 9650 on a 2,000ha property with a client of ours in WA, and operating an older NH header on a 450 acre arable farm in UK for the past two seasons. Great reference from this farmer that states he is very mature for his age and a very competent operator. This summer he also operated a pea carter that requires great skill and maturity. Looking for a machinery driving position, for 2 months starting End Jan/Feb. Will be heading back to WA for seeding in April.
