Contracts for Full Time Farm Hands and Farm Workers

According to the Pastoral Award 2010, employees must provide full-time farm work or farm hand employees a written statement providing the above details. Any terms or conditions set out in a full-time contract that do not comply with the Award or National Employment Standards are not enforceable.

Make sure you are also aware of the ‘Award flexibility’ clause that allows variance to the terms of the relevant Award. Any changes, called an Individual Flexibility Agreement (IFA) must be agreed upon in writing by both the farm hand and employer. IFA’s can be tricky, so it is usually a good idea to seek professional advice in this situation.

It's Ag Show Season! Wagin Woolorama Round Up

The Wagin Woolorama has come and gone for another year. President Tony Baxter says “this year’s event proved to be very successful with the sheep sections maintaining their numbers, the cattle and poultry sections were considerably up in entries. All other sections ran well and attracted plenty of crowd interest. Attendance over the two days was over 23500, we were helped by moderate weather conditions with Friday being in the low 30s and Saturday in the mid 2Oc s. The large crowd enjoyed the many types of entertainment we had to offer, and food vendors were kept busy a lot of the time. Probably my highlight was the selection of the three shearers to be selected in the state team to represent WA in the national finals.”
